Since 1987 Jorge Hermet has captured the unspoilt nature of the National Parks of Argentina with his camera. In 2001, he recorded a photographic account of southern Argentina, Patagonia. Jorge Hermet shares the natural splendours of Patagonia, the birthplace of his existence, through his photographs. Preserved from industry and pollution, the landscapes of Patagonia fascinate the viewer with their majesty and immensity. The colors of the sky and lakes are of amazing intensity. At the edge of the Andes Mountains, the National Parks provide a humid climate that offers an extraordinary diversity of plants and animals. These precious environments, where the glaciers collide with forests, need and deserve to be protected from the vagaries of Man.

In Patagonia, the horse is an indispensable working companion and a source of pride, also providing men with their social status. The health and ornaments of decoration of his horse testify to the quality of his master. Rodeos are exhibitions where men measure their manhood and achieve social recognition through their horse. In the driest areas, man's existance is based on herding sheep and goats, and through the production of wool. Life revolves around the shearing that takes place twice a year.
